Safer Climate webinar: F(l)ood Safety

Introducing: Safer Climate Webinars! Starting on March 20, we will start a series of webinars that highlight topical and interesting research, civil society action, art and lived experiences related to climate safety. The theme of the upcoming Climate Security Festival 2024 in September will be food security and we will include elements of this topic in the webinars, as well.

In the first webinar on 20.3 (13-14 EET), leading hydrologist Noora Veijalainen from SYKE (Finnish Environment Institute) will talk about how climate change affects water resources and floods in Finland. Master of Gastronomy Tiina Ristola reflects on her observations and experiences as a survivor of the 2021 floods in Ahr Valley, Germany; how has it been like to witness the destruction as a member of the local community and what kind of observations, on the other hand, could be made about food security during the floods?

More information on the upcoming webinars will be available soon via this website + Safer Climate mailing list and Instagram. Each 60 minute Safer Climate webinar will be a discussion starter and hopefully spark further exchange, ideas and collaboration within the community. The webinars are open for all interested. The main language is English.

At the moment, we are quite fully booked with speakers for the near future but if you have an idea for a speaker or a topic, feel free to contact us.

Remember to register here for the event. Welcome!
